Group will bid for four-star eventing competition

On Monday, during a first look at the new international-level eventing course at the Ocala Jockey Club, the group behind the effort announced it would bid for a four-star competition for 2018, which could put Ocala on eventing's highest level.

If awarded to Ocala, the event could attract hundreds of thousands of people from around the world.

This would be the biggest sporting event in Marion County, ever, said Richard Trayford of Equiventures, the company which has partnered with the Ocala Jockey Club to develop the course and event.
